The picture below (right) was a shot of VMF 124's camp taken in March 1943. They lived in the tents along with the mosquitoes and bugs. "At night we stood around a fire and the beer drinkers drank beer and the rest drank coke," said O.K. Williams. Petit was known to put down a few and dance around the fire to get rid of mosquitoes.
